The Power of One

The Power of One
The movie The Power of One was difficult to watch due to the racism between the Afrikaners, the English, and the Africans. Such as when P.K. was a little boy and was sent to an Afrikaner school while he was English. P.K. was bullied at the school. He was peed on and his chicken (a.k.a his best friend) was killed by a slingshot. He was also bullied in a way when he was a teenager. When he tried to teach Africans english, the same bully from his prep school was a policeman and he followed P.K. around to catch him and arrest him.
This movie showed that South Africa was being taken over by Afrikaners. The Africans lived in towns were there was only one bathroom for everyone and no one else was allowed in this towns other than Africans. Africans weren’t supposed to be seen with whites unless they were their slaves. Such as when P.K. and Maria were walking out of the boxing gym with Guideon Duma and Mlungisi when the police came up to them. They were going to arrest Duma and Mlungisi but P.K. threw his gym bag to Duma and told him to take it home. This way the police thought that Duma and Mlungisi were his slaves so P.K. saved them from going to refugee camps.
The Power of One is similar to Hotel Rwanda because, in both movies, there are conflicts between groups. There was a conflict between the Tutsi and Hutu tribes in Hotel Rwanda where there was genocide. In The Power of One, the Afrikaners, Africans, and English had conflicts and there was apartheid.
